本作讲述的是距《圣斗士星矢》本篇所处年代的243年之前，上一代圣战的故事。出场人物有本篇登场的黄金圣斗士童虎和史昂、这个时代的天马座圣斗士·天马、天马的挚友·被哈迪斯选中为转生体的亚伦、雅典娜的转生·萨莎（ND里未登场） 等，故事以他们为中心而展开。
